Showtime Partners With Roku, Sony Vue for OTT Launch

showtime_homelandShowtime announced today that it will partner with Roku, Roku TVs, and Sony Vue for the launch of their OTT in early July. Roku and Vue customers will be able to subscribe to Showtime for $10.99 through the app for the premieres of Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex, and will be privy to a free trial month.

Matthew C. Blank, Chairman and CEO, Showtime Networks said in an official statement that:

Both platforms have distinct and loyal audiences and together they will build on our service and greatly expand the number of homes that will have access to the Showtime service over the internet. This is fundamental to Showtime’s strategy of putting the choice in the hands of the consumers regarding how, when and on what unique devices they watch our programming.

Already, Showtime will more widely available at the time of its launch than HBO Now, which has an exclusive partnership with Apple TV for the time-being and costs five dollars more a month at $14.99. Whether you prefer one network’s content to another is a matter of taste, but getting in with Playstation and Roku with such a low price point, Homeland re-runs just got a little more interesting.
