Ricki Lake to stream production meeting live on Facebook

Ricki Lake is coming back to TV, premiering on The Ricki Lake Show in September. In the meantime, her crew is hard at work on the syndicated show, and they’ll be streaming an hour-long interactive meeting on Facebook today (Thursday) at 7 p.m. ET. During the stream, users can ask questions, and Lake and her producers will answer them live. “We want you guys to be producers of the show,” Lake explains. “We want your input. We want you to be active participants in this project and create the show that you want to see.”

This is the second monthly production meeting on Facebook — the player is powered by Ustream — and on the agenda this time they’ll select the talk show’s LA studio location and discuss the upcoming launch of a free digital magazine, Ricki. During the last meeting, the staff answered viewer questions in between agenda items, both from Facebook and Twitter. Each of the staff members’ name cards feature their Twitter handle so viewers can ask different members of the team questions.

The syndicated show Anderson launched a behind-the-scenes Tumblr last year that tracked the show’s preparation before it premiered. But Lake’s live production meeting take the idea a step further, engaging her hard core fans and giving them a sense of ownership in the show’s creation.
