Reed Hastings: ‘Not Nearly Enough Content’ on Netflix

Netflix’s CEO Reed Hastings feels your pain: there’s not enough to watch on Netflix. He spoke at theDealBook conference in New York today and the New York Times reports that Hastings talked about beefing up options, saying that there is “not nearly enough” content.

Hastings said that they are spending about $5 million in original content this year:

There’s a lot more food than ever before. We have a lot of choice, but if you do great content, you’ll find great viewers.

But while networks are getting into the original content game, Netflix isn’t about to copy their model. When asked if Netflix would consider live news or sports, he shook it off. “You don’t want to invest in things that are dying,” he said. That’s probably a good idea.
