Doctor Death will be back for more house calls.
Peacock announced the second season renewal of the medical true crime anthology series. Based on the Wondery podcast of the same name, Season 2 will tell the story of Dr. Paolo Macchiarini, whose surgical successes earned him the nickname “Miracle Man.” As investigative journalist Benita Alexander digs deeper into Macchiarini’s story, the lines between the personal and professional become complicated. Alexander soon finds out how far the surgeon will go to protect his secrets, putting his reputation and career into question.
Ashley Michel Hoban (Doctor Death Season 1, The Girl from Plainville) will serve as showrunner. Season 1 showrunner Patrick Macmanus (The Girl From Plainville) will executive produce the second season under his production company, Littleton Road Productions.
“The first season of Dr. Death blew us away as we dove into the terrifying, twisted mind of Dr. Christopher Duntsch and the team who set out to stop him. The new installment of this highly-addictive anthology series explores a globe-trotting surgeon who seduces the medical world, and we know we’re in expert hands with our partners at Wondery, UCP, Patrick Macmanus and new season EP/showrunner Ashley Michel Hoban,” Lisa Katz, president of scripted content, NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said in a statement.
