Paramount+ Changes Mayor of Kingstown Marketing to Remove Injuries from Jeremy Renner’s Face

By Jessica Lerner

Promotional photos for Paramount+’s Mayor of Kingstown have been edited to remove injuries from Jeremy Renner‘s character’s face after the actor’s recent accident.

In the artwork for the drama’s second season, the actor was originally depicted as bloodied and battered. In the new promotional materials, Renner is portrayed more as dirty and banged up.

“It’s good of the network,” co-creator Hugh Dillon told The Hollywood Reporter. “Everybody is sensitive to Jeremy.”

Renner suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries while using a snowplow to rescue a family member who was stranded in his car on Jan. 1 in Washoe County, Nevada.

He announced on Twitter on Tuesday that he was discharged from the hospital after undergoing two operations and spending time in an intensive care unit.

“Outside my brain fog in recovery, I was very excited to watch episode 201 with my family at home,” he wrote.

Renner portrays Mike McLusky in the series, an unofficial mayor who serves as a liaison between criminals, prison guards, and police.

The series premiered on Nov. 14, 2021. The series was renewed for a second season in February 2022, and the Season 2 premiere aired on Jan. 15.
