Media General, Inc. and WSAV-TV seek an online producer to create,
edit & post local news stories, multimedia, advertising and promotion
for wsav.com in Savannah. This individual will work closely with the
WSAV-TV newsroom. This fast-paced, multi-faceted job is best suited
for someone with strong design and editorial skills who embraces new
media technology. Candidates must have some experience in Web
journalism, proven news judgment, strong writing skills and
familiarity with AP style. Candidates must be comfortable working in
a television newsroom, must enjoy learning new computer programs, and
must be available to respond to breaking local news during evenings
and weekends on occasion. Experience with HTML is required;
experience with Flash & CSS is preferred but not mandatory. Candidate
will also be responsible for producing non-news related content to
include advertising banners, messages & promotions. Experience with
Photoshop or other photo editing software is mandatory. Creativity in
the design of banner ads is a must. Four-year college degree or
equivalent in career experience and training preferred. One year in
online production essential. Editing and posting content, writing
headlines, captions, and blurbs a plus. Selecting and editing photos
and video. Managing the posting of multimedia content. Excellent
knowledge of HTML and Web publishing. Experience with content
management systems. Strong copyediting/writing skills, with knowledge
of AP style preferred. Experience with Photoshop or other photo
editing software. Experience monitoring news wires. Knowledge of
streaming media. Four-year college degree or equivalent in career
experience preferred.
