Nike’s and UnitedHealthcare’s TV Ads Continue to Drive Major Second Screen Activity

When it comes to TV ads that inspire digital activity, none outperformed Nike’s “Better for It: Inner Thoughts” this week, which accounted for 2.13% of all second screen activity for TV ads on the strength of 2.3 million online views and over 28,000 social actions.

Fellow incumbents United Healthcare’s “Our Song” spot and The Ad Council’s “Diversity & Inclusion: Love Has No Labels” joined it in the top five by continuing to generate value and second screen buzz with each airing.  “Our Song” took second with a .90% digital SOV and “Diversity” ranked fifth with a .46% figure.

But two newcomers to the list managed to elbow into the top five. Nissan’s “Imagination” ad for the Rogue model and Red Bull’s “World of Red Bull” debuted  this week, both generating upwards of a million online views and 4,000 social actions. Nissan’s placement against the return of AMC’s historical drama Turn drove the bulk of its social actions, while Red Bull saw the most benefit with American Dad.
