Nickelodeon launches 'Turtles vs. Foot' app for Comic-Con

Comic-Con is in full swing here in San Diego, and social TV activations continue to pop up from networks. In our complete guide to TV at Comic-Con, we wrote about Nickelodeon’s big presence including the return of the Ninja Turtles. Now, the network that grew Spongebob on social has launched “Turtles vs. Foot,” a massive social campaign to take over San Diego.

“Turtles vs. Foot,” is their campaign at Comic-Con for “recruiting fans to fight for good alongside the Turtles or join the forces of evil with the Foot Clan.” The campaign has a mobile web app launched just for this experience that was developed with the help of Tribal DDB Worldwide. Using the app fans “can also choose their side and participate in missions to achieve real-time rewards and receive a phone call from either Splinter or Shredder.” The phone call capabilities are being powered by startup Twilio.

Additionally, this campaign will have an enormous real-life component in San Diego. Starting today, fans can stop by Petco Park where there will be a Turtles truck handing out trucker hats (based on what side you choose to be on) and then prizes throughout the convention if you get spot by one of their street team members wearing a hat. #TVF will be used to compliment and augment the real-life components on social and you can follow @TMNTMaster for updates. Which side are you on?
