Netflix, Shondaland Reveal Cast for Queen Charlotte-Centric Bridgerton Prequel

Dearest gentle reader, the cast of the Bridgerton-verse prequel has been announced.

Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to prominence and power, the untitled Shonda Rhimes-created limited series tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.

Golda Rosheuval (Queen Charlotte), Adjoa Andoh (Lady Agatha Danbury) and Ruth Gemmell (Lady Violet Bridgerton) will reprise their roles from Bridgerton, whose second season just set a Netflix record as the most viewed English-language TV title in its premiere weekend.

India Amarteifio stars as Young Queen Charlotte, who arrives in London against her will, engaged to the enigmatic King of England, only to discover she is not quite what the royals were expecting. She grows into one of Europe’s most memorable rulers as she learns to negotiate the palace, the ‘ton, and her volatile husband.

Michelle Fairley plays Princess Augusta and is described as someone who would go to any length to ensure her son’s place as king in a changing, modernizing Britain.

Corey Mylchreest stars as Young King George, who has always succumbed to the limitations imposed on him as the Crown – until now, when he’s to forced to confront his hidden demons.

Arsema Thomas plays Young Agatha Danbury, who, exploiting Charlotte’s arrival to forge her own place into society. Agatha becomes a guiding light for the new Queen, with her great understanding of the previously split social scene and the nuances of marriage, all while discovering her own voice and authority, which we’ll soon recognize as Bridgerton’s legendary Lady Danbury.

Rounding out the cast are: Sam Clemmett as Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim as Adolphus, Rob Maloney as the Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury and Hugh Sachs as Older Brimsley.
