NBC finishes strong with The #VoiceFinale

Screen Shot 2014-05-26 at 9.07.18 PMNBC’s The Voice finale last week ended an extremely social TV season. Since 2011  we’ve been covering the impact this show has had on the social TV world. Last season we saw #VoiceSave take off and most recently we wrote about how Telescope has powered both #VoiceSave and #VoiceTailgate. For the finale, Lost Remote partner Canvs (Mashwork’s new social TV analytics platform) took a deep look at the highlights from the show and how #VoiceFinale ended up becoming the most used hashtag throughout the broadcast. Here are the details.

Here’s analysis and the infographic from Canvs. Spoiler alert: Josh Kaufman took home the prize this season. Not surprisingly Adam Levine is the most followed account among the audience.

  • Though the May 13 episode of The Voice broke the record for most Tweets during an episode of a series per SocialGuide (1.92 million Tweets), the finale had far fewer Tweets at around 300k. The record-breaking volume on the 13th was due, no doubt, to the #voicesave campaign. It seems that without the incentive to impact the outcome of the show, The Voice wasn’t able to replicate their record-breaking Twitter volume.
  • NBC did a great job owning the conversation. #voicefinale was the most used hashtag during the broadcast and @nbcthevoice was the most mentioned handle among those who reacted.
  • Ed Sheeran was very popular as a performer. More than 3,800 Tweets mentioned some variation of how perfect he was.
