The Live Online producer is part of a team booking, producing and setting editorial goals for washingtonpost.com’s live Internet discussion offerings. Live Online produces more than 60 hours a week of discussions with Post reporters, editors and columnists and with special guests — including politicians, celebrities, policy experts, authors and newsmakers.

Responsibilities:
– Assume control for discussions in several areas: politics, foreign affairs and opinion
– Book appropriate guests for live discussions
– Work with editors at The Washington Post and washingtonpost.com to support major editorial projects
– Build and produce live discussions, including writing introductory text, setting up guest forums, and moderating and editing questions and transcripts
– May be required to take dictation from guests
– Work with team to develop new programming initiatives
– Promote discussions throughout site

Qualifications:
– Degree in journalism, communications or English
– Working knowledge of HTML. Homesite, Photoshop, Flash are even better.
– Ability to cold-call potential guests. Coming armed with a full Rolodex would be a plus.
– Solid news judgment and interest in the news.
– Ability to multitask and work under quickly changing deadlines.
– Impeccable spelling, grasp of AP style and ability to quickly learn Post style rules.
– Type at least 70 wpm.
– At least two years of experience in online journalism.
