It’s Time to Break Some Guinness World Records With MTV

MTV today is kicking off ‘Break the Record Week’ – a five-day event where the network, fans, and celebrities will attempt to break multiple Guinness World Records in person and online.

Among the stunts, fans can join Todrick Hall in Times Square to break the record for the longest ever dance relay and set the record for most meows in a minute with the hashtag #MostMeowsInAMinute.

Celebrity participants include Nick Lachey, Ne-Yo, Snooki, Grumpy Cat, and Todrick Hall, among others.

Monday/Tuesday: Dance-A-Thon — “Break the Record Week” kicks off with an attempt to set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® title for the longest dance relay ever starting Monday, March 9th at 11PM ET in Times Square until 11PM ET Tuesday night. Todrick Hall, YouTube sensation and star of his own upcoming MTV series, will host and get the party started at 11PM on Monday. He will continue to welcome fans and celebrities such as Nick Lachey and Michelle Buteau from VH1’s Big Morning Buzz Live to join in to help break the record on Tuesday and will be available for press interviews. The stunt will come to life across all MTV platforms with an MTV.com livestream, a picture-in-picture live dance feed on MTV, and live check-ins throughout the day. Times Square outside of the MTV studios at 1515 Broadway, NYC 10036.

Wednesday: #MostMeowsInAMinute — Grumpy Cat and The Vampire Diaries’’ Kat Graham will co-host this day as MTV challenges audiences and celebs alike to submit their own attempts to set the record for most meows in a minute with the hashtag #MostMeowsInAMinute. The day will feature videos of record-breaking attempts from artists including Ne-Yo, Nick Jonas, Snooki, and others across all MTV social platforms and on-air. The record-setting video will be featured on MTV at 11pm ET on Wednesday. 

Thursday: #EpicWin Day — Inspired by the premiere of MTV’s new competitive cup stacking special Epic Win, premiering Thursday, March 12th at 11PM ET/PT, MTV is challenging people everywhere to try to break their own personal records and showcasing aspiring record setters throughout the day across all MTV platforms. Charlamagne Tha God and MTV’s The Challenge’s Johnny Bananas and Jordan Wiseley will challenge each other all day to break various personal records. Fans can follow along via the #EpicWin hashtag on Twitter, Vine, Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram to attempt setting their own records.

Friday: #2025TimeCapsule – Starting at 11pm ET on Thursday MTV will look to the future to try to set the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS titlefor the “Most Contributors to a Time Capsule in 24 Hours.” Hosted by Zuri Hall, MTV will ask people to express their wish for humankind in the year 2025 by using #2025TimeCapsule across social media until 11pm ET on Friday. Each wish will be turned be printed or recorded and buried in a time capsule and unearthed 10 years from now. #2025TimeCapsule on Twitter. Time capsule to be buried at the Viacom building until 2025.
