How the Seattle media makes a hashtag

Quick anecdote here: It’s probably the worst kept secret in the world that the various Seattle news organizations talk to each other all the time on Twitter, but besides just being funny, we’re really good at coming together to get stuff done.

Case in point, this impromptu United Nations of News meeting that happened yesterday to establish a hashtag for an election on Tuesday:

We’re probably quite a way away from collaborating like this on air, which is fine. Online, though, this kind of collaboration serves us all very well because it consolidates our reach.

We don’t do this every day, but in the name of public service, or during a crisis, we’ve got a pretty well oiled machine set up.
