How That Megan Thee Stallion Cameo Happened in She-Hulk: Attorney At Law

By Jessica Lerner

She-Hulk: Attorney At Law has been pulling out all the stops since its premiere on Disney+.

As Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Waters tells the audience in a fourth-wall-breaking scene in the third episode, the cameos aren’t what the show is about—except there have been some pretty awesome cameos so far.

Marc Ruffalo reprised his role as the Hulk, while Tim Roth and Benedict Wong reprised their roles as Emil Blonsky/the Abomination and Wong, respectively.

The show continued to outdo itself during that episode with the appearance of superstar Megan Thee Stallion, playing a version of herself.

Jennifer’s former colleague Dennis Bukowski sues an Asgardian shapeshifter for damages after she assumed the persona of Megan Thee Stallion and pretended to be his girlfriend, hustling him for almost $200,000. The real rapper then appears in court, employs She-Hulk as her own attorney and the two twerk it out in the episode’s post-credit scene. We mentioned this was awesome, right?

So how did this cameo come about?

Head writer and ep Jessica Gao told TVLine the show knew they needed a “famous, beautiful, successful woman.” They ran through a list of possible contenders.

She-Hulk costar Jameela Jamil pitched Megan, who she knew from working on HBO Max’s Legendary.

Jamil then approached Megan while they were filming Legendary Season 2 and it turned out Megan was a huge Marvel fan, the actor told The Hollywood Reporter.

“I just had a feeling she’d be a great actor because she’s good at everything, and she absolutely smashed it. I could not have been prouder or more in awe of her, and she brings out something in Tatiana that no one has ever seen before—Tatiana has moves. It’s ridiculous,” Jamil said.

Maslany was freaking out over the casting, being a huge Megan fan. And the actress can now cross appearing in a Megan Thee Stallion music video off her bucket list, as the post-credits dance scene was added last minute to make Maslany’s dreams come true, director and fellow EP Kat Coiro told THR.

“It was one of my absolute top moments on set of anything I’ve done; it was that moment. I was shaking, and I was nervous, and then the music played, and I was just like, ‘I’m in a Megan Thee Stallion music video. This is great,” Maslany told TVLine.
