Screen Shot 2014-06-10 at 11.33.09 PMWimbledon, which begins on June 23rd is one of the most popular sporting events of the year. Tennis games in particular are hard to capture on social media in real-time because everything moves so quickly, especially on the TV screen. Grabyo, a real-time video company, “is today announcing a major deal with The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) to bring near-live highlights from Wimbledon to a global digital audience of billions.” Furthermore, “the partnership will see the AELTC share real-time video highlights to tennis fans on Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and YouTube, in order to engage social media users and drive tune-in for broadcasters around the world.”

How it will bring social TV to the games:

The AELTC will use Grabyo’s social video platform to instantly create and distribute real-time video clips across Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus. It will also distribute longer form highlights from each day on and on YouTube. The social media experience will compliment the TV experience, which will be delivered by a network of broadcasters across 200 territories. Alongside the broadcast coverage, tennis fans can enjoy Live @ Wimbledon, the AELTC’s live video and radio channel, delivered on and the official apps.

The future of real-time video sharing:

In addition to Grabyo, SnappyTV is a social TV company we’ve covered numerous times for bringing this experience to other events. The future of social TV is clearly going to go beyond #hashtags and images. When every major live event has real-time video sharing, social TV will reach a new height that makes content more accessible than ever and creates an even larger spoiler problem.
