HBO Max will now move its canceled programs to third-party FAST services.
The streamer recently announced a slew of series cancellations, including Minx, Gordita Chronicles, The Nevers, Westworld and Love Life would be removed from its library. Though there was fear the shows would be gone forever, parent company Warner Bros. Discovery apparently assessed how best to maximize audiences and monetization opportunities for its content, deciding to license certain HBO and HBO Max programming to third-party FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) services as part of a packaged offering.
Titles designated for FAST offering include:
Westworld – Seasons 1, 2, 3, 4
The Nevers – Season 1
Raised by Wolves – Seasons 1, 2
FBOY Island – Seasons 1, 2
Legendary – Seasons 1, 2, 3
Finding Magic Mike – Season 1
Head of the Class – Season 1
The Time Traveler’s Wife – Season 1
In addition, HBO Max is in negotiation with studio partners about opportunities to license the following series to third-party FAST platforms:
Gordita Chronicles – Season 1
Love Life – Seasons 1, 2
Made for Love – Seasons 1, 2
The Garcias – Season 1
Minx – Seasons 1, 2
These removals and cancellations are just the latest in Warner Bros. Discovery’s cost-cutting measures. Among the most surprising cancellations, HBO ended Westworld after four seasons back in November. Additionally, HBO Max axed Minx on Monday, reversing course after greenlighting a second season back in May.
