Elon Musk‘s Crash Course is the latest installment from The New York Times Presents, an FX documentary film series debuting May 20 on FX and Hulu,

Since 2015, Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, has stated that Tesla’s self-driving car technology is effectively a “solved problem” and has made significant claims about Autopilot capabilities. A New York Times investigation uncovers Musk’s irrational pursuit of self-driving technology and the tragic results.

The film recounts how Autopilot has been a factor in several deaths and dozens of additional accidents that Tesla has not officially acknowledged, based on firsthand testimony. It includes Musk’s pressure on government officials to halt probes and firsthand accounts from numerous former Tesla employees who speak out against Musk for advocating a dangerous self-driving program.

Making the program even more relevant, Musk is also in the news for advanced discussions to buy Twitter for $43 billion, and the deal could finalize today. This was a reversal from a week and a half ago when Twitter planned to adopt a limited duration shareholder rights plan to block Musk’s bid.
