French channel Canal+ launches a brand new TV experience: The Social Player

This announcement comes at a critical time for the industry, as Netflix recently announced it will be coming to the region. The Social Player is a video and social platform shaped by Facebook’s social graph. In France, Canal+ is the first channel to bring this kind of personalized experience to consumers. In addition to be a platform designed around conversations about TV, it will also be the perfect way to put together data on audience behavior. Here are details.

A customized channel:

The Social Player allows every user to create their own channel from their own prefered programs and videos in addition to seeing their friends’ preferences. The videos will also be free to access.

Real-time interaction:

Each user has the opportunity to interact and comment on a show at a precise moment. Users will be able to identify the best moments and that contribute to conversations around them.

ProgramsPageA customized newsfeed:

Users can build their own newsfeed based on interactions with programs and also based on interactions with friends and content within the programs.

What’s next?
