Facebook redesigns, turns six, has 400 million users

UPDATE: TechCrunch’s Michael Arrington reports Facebook is going to change its mail system to be more traditional and webmail-based.

By 2039, it is projected, the U.S. will have a population of 400 million. Well, Facebook has us beat by about 30 years. Facebook has announced it now has 400 million members. Mashable points out just how fast the network continues to grow – just two months ago the number was 350 million. The site made the announcement as it celebrated its sixth birthday.

Meantime, you may notice something a little different about your Facebook page today. Facebook is rolling out a new look. So get ready for lots of groups that are called “BRING BACK THE OLD FACEBOOK!!!!!!!” Here’s a peek at the new-look Facebook, courtesy of mathewsanders’s Posterous:
