During the 2022 NFL season, ESPN and ESPN+ will both broadcast international games, including the first-ever NFL game to air exclusively on ESPN+ and the return of Monday Night Football to Mexico City.
ESPN+ will exclusively present the Denver Broncos against the Jacksonville Jaguars from Wembley Stadium in London at 9:30 a.m. ET on Oct. 30 (Week 8). In addition, the San Francisco 49ers will take on the Arizona Cardinals at Estadio Azteca Stadium in Mexico City at 8 p.m. ET on Nov. 21 (Week 11), airing on ESPN Monday Night Football. Both games will be televised on local broadcast stations in the markets of the teams involved, with Monday Night Football broadcasting on ESPN Deportes as well.
The international games are part of Disney’s 21-game regular-season schedule for 2022, with the remaining matchups set to be revealed next week. In addition, ESPN will broadcast a Super Wild Card game and the Pro Bowl to close out the season.
This season’s ESPN+ NFL games mark the start of a new annual tradition for the platform, as ESPN+ will broadcast one foreign game each year through the 2033 season, the length of the new rights agreement announced last year. Previously, ESPN+ broadcasted a few Monday Night Football and Super Wild Card games.
Monday Night Football from Mexico City will leverage ESPN’s Mexico City production studios and local marketing resources as the network televises its fourth NFL game from the city. Previously, the franchise televised games from there in 2019 (Chiefs vs. Chargers) and 2016 (Raiders vs. Texans), following a Sunday Night Football broadcast in 2005 (Cardinals vs. 49ers).
ESPN will broadcast both games in Spanish-speaking Latin America, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, the Caribbean, the Netherlands and Africa outside of the United States.
