Now’s your chance to get an autograph from Emmitt Smith. Well, a digital one at least. This weekend, Comcast is hosting an autograph giveaway.
During the first half of the Giants and Cowboys game on Sunday night, Smith will tweet something, according to the release, to get it all started. Fans will then have 24 hours to tweet @XFINITYSports with the hashtag #SignMyTweet. Someone at Comcast (I pity this guy), will print out the tweets, have the Hall of Famer sign them on Monday night, and then mail oversized copies to fans. Smith says in the statement:
It’s a chance to give back and engage with fans in a fun way. And to be a part of their first live Twitter-based autograph session should be a pretty cool experience – I’m looking forward to it.

Just in time for the holidays. Who wouldn’t want an oversized, signed copy of a tweet?
It sounds silly (and it sort of is) but sports fans are avid tweeters. I’m betting Emmitt Smith will be getting top mentions this week, which you can track using this interactive Twitter map, which shows you top NFL tweets, player, and team mentions week by week. While this is all Comcast’s idea, the NFL has strong partnerships with Twitter (just in case you don’t see that “View NFL Timeline” every forsaken game day); they make sure fans can find their teams, the games, their favorite players. All a non-fan can do is hold out and wait for it to be over. If #SignMyTweet runs smoothly, it’s a good bet we’ll be seeing more interactive, Twitter lovefests throughout the season.
