The CNN Originals hub is now available to Discovery+ subscribers.
This past April Warner Bros. Discovery shut down CNN+ one month after its launch. At the time, CNN CEO Chris Licht said in a statement that the decision was in line with the company’s broader direct-to-consumer strategy. “In a complex streaming market, consumers want simplicity and an all-in service, which provides a better experience and more value than stand-alone offerings,” Licht said.
Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav had been transparent about his goal to combine all of the company’s streaming video assets, including Discovery+ and HBO Max, under one umbrella, following the WarnerMedia/Discovery merger earlier this year. Adding CNN content to Discovery+ is an example of the new strategy.
The new hub allows users to access a large selection of library CNN content from the networks brands: CNN Original Series, CNN Films and HLN Original Series which includes over 800 episodes of current and legacy programming from the award-winning CNN Original Series and HLN Original Series library by accessing the Discovery+ app.
