Discovery+ Removes Live Streams of HGTV, TLC and Other Channels

Discovery+ has discontinued live streams of Discovery-owned channels, meaning you’re fresh out of luck if you want to watch HGTV or TLC live on the streamer.

Instead, the programming will only be available on-demand.

“As we continue to grow and provide the best streaming experience across all our products and through all compatible devices, we have made the difficult decision to discontinue our Discovery+ channels offer,” the company posted on its website.

Though Discovery+ channels are no longer available, the company notes viewers will still be able to stream shows such as 90 Day Fiancé, Fixer Upper, House Hunters or Property Brothers, among others, by using the search tab.

There’s no explanation given on the decision, but it may have to do with the upcoming merger of HBO Max and Discovery+ into a single streaming service, which will launch this spring.

HBO Max has come under fire for its decision to pull content left and right from its streaming service, including at least six HBO Max Original films, 20 original series and nearly 200 episodes of Sesame Street and various specials.

More cuts are expected ahead of the launch of the combined streamer.

“As we work toward bringing our content catalogs together under one platform, we will be making changes to the content offering available on both HBO Max and Discovery+,” HBO Max previously said in a statement. “That will include the removal of some content from both platforms.”
