Apple TV+ has ordered the Colin Farrell-led drama series Sugar, multiple news outlets report.
Farrell will also executive produce the “genre-bending” series from Apple Studios along with Mark Protosevich, Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon, Scott Greenberg, Chip Vucelich and Fernando Meirelles, who will also direct.
Apple TV+ outbid Netflix for the series back in December. The plot is still under wraps, but Deadline reports it’s a Los Angeles-based, contemporary take on the private detective story.
Sugar is Kinberg’s second collaboration with Apple TV+, and it will air alongside Invasion, which was renewed for a second season.
This is the second streaming series Farrell has committed to in the last few months. Farrell is already starring in an HBO Max spinoff of The Batman, in which he will reprise the role of Oswald Cobblepot, a.k.a. The Penguin.
