Chris Wallace Sets Return Date on HBO Max, CNN

By Jessica Lerner

CNN anchor Chris Wallace will return to the air after a five-month hiatus.

The anchor’s streaming program will relaunch on HBO Max later this month after the show was pulled when CNN+ was shut down.

On Sept.23, the first three episodes of Wallace’s new season of Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? will air on HBO Max. The three episodes’ best moments will then be combined into a one-hour TV special that will air on CNN on Sept. 25.

“I am excited to be back in the studio having candid, real conversations with a rich variety of guests who are standouts in their fields,” Wallace said in a statement to the New York Post. “I can’t wait for the HBO Max and CNN audiences to get to see what our team has been working on.”

The structure will remain the same for the duration of the 10-week first season, with Wallace hosting three full-length interviews debuting on HBO Max on Fridays and a best-of program two days later on Sunday evenings at 7 p.m. Interviewees will include Tyler Perry, Shania Twain, James Patterson and Alex Rodriguez.

“Chris Wallace is a legend in our profession. His unparalleled interviewing expertise has made an impact across industries and changed history,” Chris Licht, CNN’s chairman and CEO, said in a statement to the news outlet. “And now with the launch of his program on both HBO Max and CNN, his iconic interview style will reach an expansive audience unlike anything before.”
