CES 2010: Here come the internet TVs

Toshiba's Web-Ready TV

We’re starting to see a theme around the introduction of new televisions at CES 2010. Many of the new TVs are web-ready. The Toshiba ZX 900 series, according to Engadget, has “…Net TV applications, which include Netflix, VUDU, CinemaNow and Pandora, and there’s 802.11n WiFi and 1TB of HDD for streaming and storage.” It also has a processor that can turn standard 2-D video into 3-D. Meantime, Vudu, the HD-On-Demand movie service, has announced it is partnering with six major TV manufacturers and two DVD manufacturers to have its service built right in.

This continues an important theme we’ve stressed over the years, and that is how crucial it is for locals to create original content. There needs to be a draw to what you’re creating. With so many ways of getting living room entertainment without you, you need to make a case for why your content is worthy of the audience’s time.
