Apple TV+ and Apple Music Prices Are Going Up

You’ll have to dig a little deeper into your pockets for your Apple subscription.

Per a report from 9to5Mac, the cost of Apple TV+ and Apple Music will experience their very first price hike. Apple TV+ has increased the subscription price for new and existing subscribers from $4.99 to $6.99 per month—that’s a 40% increase from the streaming platform’s launch in November 2019.

Apple Music will increase from $9.99 to $10.99 per month for the individual plan, while the family plan (which allows up to six accounts) will increase from $14.99 to $16.99 per month. It’s the first price hike for Apple Music since its introduction in June 2015.

In addition, the Apple One bundle, which includes Apple Music and Apple TV+, will increase from $14.95 to $16.95 per month for the individual plan. The Apple One bundle consists of Apple Arcade, iCloud+, Apple News + and Apple Fitness+.

In a statement to the news outlet, a company rep said, “We introduced Apple TV+ at a very low price because we started with just a few shows and movies. Three years later, Apple TV+ is home to an extensive selection of award-winning and broadly acclaimed series, feature films, documentaries and kids and family entertainment from the world’s most creative storytellers.”

Apple also cited higher music licensing costs for the price increase on Apple Music plans. Apple Music currently offers a catalog of over 100 million songs.

Apple TV+ offers dozens of original titles, including the 2022 Oscar-winning film Coda and the Emmy-winning series Ted Lasso, which won Outstanding Comedy Series in 2021 and 2022. Other original programming includes Severance, Physical, Bad Sisters and Shantaram.
