Ana de Armas’ Marilyn Monroe Comes Undone in New Blonde Trailer

By Jessica Lerner

In Andrew Dominik‘s upcoming film Blonde, Ana de Armas depicts Hollywood superstar Marilyn Monroe‘s emotional decline in stark detail.

In the newly released trailer, we get our first glimpse of Marilyn Monroe recounting how she became a Hollywood icon and how heavy a burden living up to her stage name can be.

Blonde, a reimagining of the life of Marilyn Monroe, one of Hollywood’s most lasting legends, is based on the novel by Joyce Carol Oates. Blonde blurs the borders between fact and fiction to examine the growing gap between Norma Jeane’s public and private personas, beginning with her turbulent childhood and continuing through her ascent to fame and romantic relationships.

“The film moves along with her feelings and her experiences,” Ana de Armas said in a statement. “There are moments when we are inside of her body and mind, and this will give the audience an opportunity to experience what it was like to be Norma and Marilyn at the same time.”

The world premiere of Blonde will take place at the 2022 Venice International Film Festival, and on Sept. 28, it will be available on Netflix.

The film also features Bobby Cannavale, Adrien Brody, Julianne Nicholson, Xavier Samuel and Evan Williams.
