In the old days, reporters never had to deal with interacting with viewers, much less tweeting with them. But the rise of social media—and social TV—has changed the reporting game, and as ABC Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl tells us in part two of our MediaBeat interview, he can no longer cover his White House beat without Twitter.

But the once “reluctant adapter” cautions against overuse:  “You can’t be distracted by all that stuff.” And what advice does he have for up and coming reporters in this new digital age? Don’t forget the basics.
