Once again, MTV is allowing fans to determine the winner of BEST HERO ahead of the 2015 MTV Movie Awards. The nominees will be voted on exclusively via social media hashtags. This year’s nominees include:
- Bilbo Baggins (The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies) – #VoteBilboMTV
- Katniss Everdeen (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1) – #VoteKatnissMTV
- Star-Lord (Guardians of the Galaxy) – #VoteStarLordMTV
- Thomas (The Maze Runner) – #VoteThomasMTV
- Tris Prior (The Divergent Series: Insurgent) – #VoteTrisMTV
The winner of the social category – presented by Mountain Dew Kickstart – will be announced during the awards’ live pre-show on Sunday, April 12. MTV introduced the social category (also for BEST HERO) for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards; Harry Potter was the winner.
In a twist, this year’s category features top nominees from the past three years. In 2013, Bilbo Baggins won the BEST HERO social category for “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” after edging Snow White (Kristen Stewart) and Iron Man. He is back again this year for ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.’
