Tools To Promote Your Author Blog

By Jason Boog

Nearly all writers launch some sort of blog, Twitter feed, Facebook page and/or Tumblr blog to promote their book online. But most of them have no idea how to get people to actually read these sites.

Over at Splitsider, author and Tumblr blogger Jill Morris (pictured, via) explained How to Become a Published Author in 237 Simple Steps–a useful and funny guide to online promotion.  Below, we’ve highlighted a few tools we never knew existed.

1. Listorious: “the best Twitter people search on the web so you can find anyone by topic, region or profession — powered by data from the tens of thousands of list curators. Once you find the right person, you can interview them by asking questions over Listorious.”

2. Muck Rack “tracking the short messages on Twitter written by the journalists who do the muckraking for major media outlets.”

3. Twellow: “grabbing publicly available messages from Twitter… we analyze and categorize each of the users … By adding these people to specific categories we help you narrow your searching into specific niches where you can find who you are looking for.”

4. Tumblweeds: “Tumblweeds is a platform for developing and identifying social media relationships, focusing on Tumblr. It ranks Tumblr blogs by their number of followers, implements a content categorization system, and provides personalized recommendations to bloggers on whom they should follow.”
