New Waldorf Bar Book Cover (GalleyCat)Penguin Books has published an updated version of The Worldorf Astoria Bar Book. Frank Caiafa, the bar manager of the illustrious hotel’s Peacock Alley, took on the task of modernizing A.S. Crockett’s The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book; Crockett’s book was first published back in 1934.

Some of the classic cocktails that can be found in the new book include the Caipirinha, the Gimlet, and the Martini. A number of unique drink recipes are also being featured such as the Cole Porter, the Macaroon, and the Peacock Alley Martinez.

Caiafa gave this statement in the press release: “When writing this book I wanted to recreate what we were able to accomplish in Peacock Alley – bringing the legend of the bar into the 21st century, and presenting a modern day representation of the classic recipes included in Crockett’s books. My goal was to include the long and storied history of Waldorf Astoria New York and its cocktails, and present them in an approachable way, highlighting early recipes of the late 19th and early 20th centuries combined with more traditional selections and current menu offerings.”
