Journalist Ta-Nehisi Coates is on the cover of this week’s New York Magazine promoting the publication of his new book, Between the World and Me.
In the profile piece, Coates speaks about his rise as a chronicler of the black experience in America.
“When people who are not black are interested in what I do, frankly, I’m always surprised,” he says in the interview. “I don’t know if it’s my low expectations for white people or what.”
In the interview, he also explains how his views have evolved over the past few years. “I have become radicalized,” he says in the interview with New York’s contributing editor Benjamin Wallace-Wells.
