Swoosie Kurtz Lands Deal for Memoir

By Jason Boog

Mike & Molly star Swoosie Kurtz has inked a book deal for Part Swan, Part Goose: An Uncommon Memoir of Womanhood, Work, and Family, a memoir of “personal misadventure, showbiz lore, and touching family history.”

Penguin’s Perigee Books division will publish the book next spring. Ian Kleinert at Objective Entertainment negotiated the deal with publisher John Duff. She will collaborate with Joni Rodgers on the book. Here’s more from the release:

Kurtz candidly reflects on the right choices that empowered her, the wrong choices that enlightened her, and the intimate journey of caring for an aging parent … Her distinctive name comes from The Swoose, the famed B-17 bomber flown by her father, Col. Frank Kurtz, the most decorated Air Force pilot of World War II. Swoosie’s mother, Margo Rogers Kurtz, whom the actress currently cares for, is the author of the homefront memoir My Rival, the Sky (Putnam, 1945.) Swoosie’s incredibly close relationship with both her parents is lovingly detailed in Part Swan, Part Goose.

Kurtz’s career has spanned movies like Liar, Liar; Dangerous Liaisons, and Citizen Ruth. She has also played in TV shows that included Sisters and Pushing Daisies.
