Scholastic Introduces Summer Reading Challenge

scholastic304Scholastic’s 2014 Summer Reading Challenge is now open.

The free online reading program encourages kids to read during the summer and log their hours through Scholastic’s site. Students and teachers can set their reading goals and compete against other students to win prizes.

“We know that the more children read, the more they succeed and time spent with books is especially important during the summer months so students return to school ready to tackle more challenging texts,” stated Francie Alexander, Chief Academic Officer at Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company. “In the summer, we want our kids finding books that fit their personal interests because those are the books that will make them fall in love with reading.”
