Mary Poppins (GalleyCat)Rob Marshall may take the helm of a new Mary Poppins film adaptation. In the past, Marshall has directed several musical projects including Into the Woods, Nine, and Chicago.

According to Time, the screenwriters will base the script “on as-yet unadapted stories from P.L. Travers’ children’s book series about Poppins. The last time the fabled nanny was in a movie was in 1964, when she was played by Julie Andrews.”

Variety reports that the story for the forthcoming movie is set two decades after the first one. At this point in time, no release date or casting announcements have been made. (via The Guardian)
