NYPL Has Restored Fountains on 5th Avenue

The fountains on the Fifth Avenue facade of the New York Public Library’s iconic Stephen A. Schwarzman Building are now flowing. This is the first time in almost 30 years that the fountains have been functional.

The library did a complete restoration of the fountains, which included replacing interior plumbing, drainage and water circulation systems. According to the library, “equipment for the circulation and filtration systems had to be custom-fabricated.” The Robert W. Wilson Charitable Trust funded the restoration.

“The fountains and the statues above are among the most prominent, historic, and beautiful features of the building,” stated Tony Marx, president of NYPL. “We are delighted to bring the fountains back to life for the enjoyment of everyone, and we’re grateful to the Wilson Charitable Trust for making this possible.”
