Netflix intends to create a new series based on Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. Penguin Young Readers published this young adult novel back in October 2007.
Deadline reports that Tom McCarthy, the Academy Award-winning filmmaker behind Spotlight, has signed on as an executive producer. He will also take the helm as the director for two of the thirteen planned episodes.
According to Paste Magazine, Selena Gomez will also serve as an executive producer. The popular pop singer will not be taking on an acting role for this adaptation project. (via The Fandom)
