Nerdist and crowdfunding book publisher Inkshares have revealed the winners of their joint science fiction/fantasy writing contest, which was decided based on how many pre-orders the works received.
Zachary Tyler Linville’s Welcome to Deadland, a tale of random characters hiding from a disease outbreak in an abandoned theme park, and Dave Barrett’s It’s All Fun And Games, a tale in which six high school friends spend a weekend Live Action Role Playing and discover the violence is real, were the top two winning books. These two books will be published under Nerdist’s new imprint. Each title received thousands of preorders. The two winners will be the first Nerdist books published. The books will also be considered for movies, TV, series and digital productions.
Rise by Brian Guthrie, The Seventh Age: Dawn by Richard Heinz and These Old Bones by Andrew J. Ainsworth were the runners up and will automatically be funded.
