Author Marilynne Robinson will receive the 2016 Richard C. Holbrooke Distinguished Achievement Award, an honor given by the Dayton Literary Peace Prize organization.
The award honors “writers whose work uses the power of literature to foster peace, social justice, and global understanding.” It was named after the U.S. diplomat who was central to the 1995 Dayton Peace Accords that ended the war in Bosnia. Robinson will receive the award at the Dayton Literary Peace Prize Gala on November 20th.
The author of Housekeeping, Home and Lila has also won The Pulitzer Prize, two National Book Critics Circle Awards and was interviewed by president Barack Obama. The Library of Congress has also named Robinson as the recipient of the 2016 Prize for American Fiction.
