Amazon has opened up shop in Spain and Italy.

The company announced today that it is launching Spanish-language and Italian-language Kindles, as well as opening Kindle stores in Italy and Spain.

The company has been committed to expanding its digital book business in Europe. In April, Amazon launched the Kindle Store in Germany and in October a version launched in France.

eBookNewser has more about the new stores: “The Italian Kindle store launches with more than 16,000 Italian-language Kindle books, which is mainly comprised of best sellers and public domain classics. The Spanish store has 22,000 Spanish-language Kindle books, in addition to eBooks in Catalan, Basque and Galician.”

Kindle Direct Publishing’s 70% royalty option is available for eBooks sold in these new stores.
