Jan Constantine Is Leaving the Author’s Guild

Jan Constantine is leaving her post as general counsel at The Author’s Guild on April 29.

Constantine began working for the Guild on October 2, 2005, a week after the guild filed its landmark lawsuit against Google. What was supposed to be a two day job, turned into more than ten years. This week, the Supreme Court declined The Author’s Guild’s appeal to overturn the judgement in favor of Google’s book scanning.

“Now that the Google case is over,” Constantine told the Authors Guild council yesterday, “my work is done here. It has been a pleasure providing legal services which, outside the Guild, are either not available or very expensive.”
