James Patterson Launches Second Writing Competition

By Dianna Dilworth

Bestselling author James Patterson is seeking a writing partner for his next novel.

In conjunction with online education platform MasterClass, the author is hosting his second writing competition to find the right person. Students enrolled in Patterson’s MasterClass can submit their work for consideration beginning on February 1st. After completing the class, students can submit a two-sentence pitch (100 word max), along with a sample chapter (1,000 word max) for consideration. Patterson will select the top 3 proposals.

Earlier this year, Patterson ran a similar competition and selected his student Kecia Bal, a business reporter for a small town newspaper, to co-author a book. Their joint effort, The Dolls, went on pre-sale today.
