J.K. Rowling’s Writing Chair Is for Sale

By Dianna Dilworth

The chair that author J.K. Rowling sat in while writing the first two Harry Potter books is up for auction again.

Rowling donated the chair as an auction piece for a 2002 fundraiser for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Rowling painted words and left her signature on the chair. Sky News has more:

“You may not find me pretty but don’t judge on what you see,” she wrote, along with “I wrote Harry Potter while sitting on this chair” and her signature, auction house Heritage Auctions said.

In a 2009 auction, the chair fetched $29,117. Current bids on the chair have already surpassed $65,000. The winning bid will be announced tomorrow.
