Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time IndianHugh Jackman has signed on for an acting role in The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian film adaptation. According to Variety, the Oscar-nominated actor will also take on duties as a producer.

The story for this movie project comes from Sherman Alexie’s semi-autobiographical young adult novel. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers first published this National Book Award-winning title back in September 2007.

Here’s more from The Hollywood Reporter: “The story centers on a teen named Junior, a budding cartoonist growing up on the Spokane Indian Reservation. Determined to take his future into his own hands, he leaves his troubled school on the reservation to attend an all-white farming town high school where the only other Indian is the school mascot.” (via The A.V.
