Hip Hop Pop-Up Book Featured on Kickstarter

By Maryann Yin

Natalia Romero hopes to raise $50,000 on Kickstarter for The Hip Hop Pop-Up Book. It focuses on four aspects of hip hop culture: break dancing, graffiti art, DJ-ing, and emceeing. We’ve embedded a video about the project above.

Here’s more from the Kickstarter page: “We’ve created a fully interactive Pop-Up experience filled with stylish and love-able characters, set in the gritty backdrop of late 1970’s New York City. The book has a completely original fictional story penned by Hip Hop Pioneer Grandmaster Caz – that sheds light on the positive energy that the Hip-Hop movement provided during this era, when the oppressive living conditions gave way to creativity, self-expression, opportunity and most importantly, community.”
