HarperCollins Publishers, a division of News Corp, has opened the doors of HarperCollins France.

The new company is built on Harlequin SA, which has successfully operated in France for 30 years. HarperCollins bought Harlequin last year for $455 million. The firm will keep publishing romance novels under the Harlequin imprint, and will expand its trade publishing business with new titles from HarperCollins France. Emmanuelle Bucco-Cancès, managing director of the former Harlequin.SA, wis now managing director of the newly formed HarperCollins France.

“We’re excited to announce the formation of HarperCollins France and complete the rebranding of our Harlequin offices in Europe,” stated Brian Murray, president and CEO of HarperCollins Publishers. “There is a long and successful history of publishing in France and we look forward to growing the program further and providing our authors with a global, multi-language publishing platform.”
