sherylwoodsThe Hallmark Channel has partnered with Harlequin author Sherryl Woods to develop Chesapeake Shores, a series of romance novels, into a prime-time series that is slated to launch in 2015.

The novels are about the O’Brien family, an Irish American family living on the Chesapeake Bay in a town founded by the family. The TV series will focus on the drama surrounding the reuniting of the O’Brien family after years apart.

The deal comes after Harlequin just extended its contract with Woods.  As a part of this deal, Woods will write two new Chesapeake Shores books in 2015, which may be published when the TV series launched.

“It is an absolute thrill to be working on this project with the Hallmark Channel and with a team that respects the books as much as they do,” stated Woods.  “It’s the perfect match for me and, most especially, for Chesapeake Shores.”
