U.K. poetry publisher Forward Press has closed and its 100-person staff was laid off. Printweek reported that the publisher will begin liquidation on November 29th to pay creditors.

The company billed itself as the “largest publisher of new poetry in the world,” reportedly publishing one million poems since the company started in 1989. Some of the poets on its list include Dreadlockalien, Jo Bell, and Mark Grist.

The article offered this comment from Ian Yerrill of Gerald Edelman Business Recovery Professionals: “I can confirm that whilst Forward Press no longer trades, my understanding is that another business venture has agreed to honor any unfulfilled orders placed with the company prior to its demise.” (Via Publishers Weekly)
