Ex-Go-Go’s Bassist Kathy Valentine Inks Book Deal

By Dianna Dilworth

Former Go-Go Kathy Valentine has inked a book deal with University of Texas Press.
The memoir will be “a coming-of-age story about a girl finding her way in the world through music,” explains the press release. In the book Valentine will discuss her role in the all-female rock band the Go-Go’s. Valentine joined the band in 1980, serving as the bassist and one of the group’s three primary composers.
The book, whose drop date has yet to be revealed, will beef up UT Press’ music books by or about female musicians. Their list includes: Kristin Hersh’s Don’t Suck, Don’t Die: Giving Up Vic Chesnutt; Real Love, No Drama: The Music of Mary J. Blige by Danny Alexander; and Madonnaland: And Other Detours into Fame and Fandom by Alina Simone.
